Key Points you need to know about Wesleyan 's policy wording

1. What is the age/classification of a child on the policy?

For the purposes of the Wesleyan travel insurance, children are classed as those under the age of 23 years, in full time education, financially dependant and normally resident with you.

2. What are the policy age limits?

A single trip policy can be taken out by anyone up to the age of 79 years.

An annual multi-trip policy can be taken out by anyone up to the age of 74 years.

3. What are the policy Trip Duration limits?

Single trip policies may be insured for up to 120 days, unless you are over the age of 69, in which case the maxmium number of days is reduced to 31.

Annual Multi trip policies allow for an unlimited number of trips, provided each trip lasts no longer than 60 days (can be upgraded to 90 days subject to payment of an additional premium)

If you are over the age of 64 the number of days per trip is restricted to 31.

4. What are the options for Winter Sports cover?

Winter sports can be added to either single trip or annual travel policies. The maximum number of days under the annual policy that you can cover for winter sports is 17. If your single trip is intended to be for skiing or snowboarding, you are also restricted to 17 days or 10% of the trip which ever is the lesser.

If you wish to include winter sports, you must select sports and activities level 3 or 4, depending on which activities you intend to get involved in.

We recommend that you check the list of activities carefully, to make sure you have selected the correct option and that the activities you want are covered.

5. What is classed as a family and how many people can be quoted for?

A Wesleyan policy can be taken out by a single person aged over sixteen, a couple (two co-habiting adults over the age of sixteen) and a single or two parent family and their children.

6. What are the policy rules on reciprocal health agreements (EHIC, Medicare)?

The Wesleyan policy states if you are travelling to a country in the EU, you will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to receive healthcare. If you are travelling to Australia and require medical treatment, you must enrol with the local Medicare Office.

7. What is covered under Sports and Activities on the policy?

Sports and Activities are split into four categories. Category 1 covers 112 different pursuits as standard, from Abseiling to zip lining.  The more adventurous activities are split into categories 2 - 4. Selection of one of these categories, requires payment of an additional premium.

The higher the category the larger the additional premium and some of these pastimes also have additional terms attached to them such as the exclusion of personal liability and personal accident cover. Its important that you check carefully to make sure the activity you want to pursue is covered.

8. What are the policy Alcohol Exclusion terms?

The Wesleyan policy has this to say regarding alcohol:

"We exclude claims caused by you drinking too much alcohol or alcohol abuse, where it is reasonably forseeable that such consumption could result in an impariment of your facultieis and or judgment resulting in a claim"

Wesleyan do not expect you to avoid drinking alcohol, but will not cover any claims arising because you have drunk so much alcohol, that your judgement is seriously affected and you need to make a claim as a result.

9. Does the policy cover Scheduled Airline Failure or Financial Failure?

Financial Failure protection covered as standard.

10. Does the policy cover Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and can I get a quote online?

Pre-existing medical conditions (other than minor ailments listed in the policy) are not covered. You can find out if Wesleyan will cover other conditions, but you will need to phone their medical screening service first.

11. What are the policy rules on travelling when pregnant?

The Wesleyan policy is not designed to cover normal medical costs associated with pregnancy or childbirth.

The policy does however cover you, should complications arise with your pregnancy due to accidental bodily injury, or unexpected illness, which occurs while on your trip, excluding costs incurred during the period between 12 weeks before and 12 weeks after the estimated delivery date.

12. Will I be covered if I want to do Manual Work or Bar Work or other work while I am on holiday?

You are covered for NON MANUAL work during your trip under single trip and annual trip policies and this can be extended to cover manual work subject to payment of an additional premium. This covers you for general work that does not involve the use of mechanical or industrial machinery and does not involve working at a height greater than 2 metres above ground level.

You must also select the option Business Travel/Work Abroad.

The policy does not cover offshore work, ski, snowboard or diving instructors or guides, trekking guides where ropes or other specialist climbing equipment is required, work with dangerous animals, including big cats, crocodiles, alligators, sharks, hippopotamuses, snakes, elephants or bears or work involving hazardous activities.

13. What are the requirements, if I need to claim for lost, damaged or stolen baggage?

Any item of baggage that has been lost, stolen or damaged and is of a value greater than £50, must be supported by an original receipt, valuation report or other acceptable proof of ownership.

If you are unable to provide this evidence the claim will not be covered.

14. What does the policy cover in the event of war, terrorism or cyber attack?
