The website deals with several types of insurance products, but it is easy to find the pet section.

The layout is consumer friendly and you are invited to explore the policy benefits. Although you have easy access to the policy wording, which includes a summary of cover, it would be helpful to be able to view a breakdown on the website.

There is a comprehensive question and answer section. Pet Guard don't operate live chat, but you can phone or email with any queries.

The quotation system is quick and easy to use. The only downside is that you don't get a side by side comparison of costs/cover and although there is easy access to the policy, once you made your choice, you are not provided with a breakdown of cover or sums insured.

16. Is the policy wording easy to understand?

The 26 page policy wording is neatly laid out and easy to follow. It includes a summary of cover, useful table of contents and helpful definitions. Sections are easy to read and understand. The PetGuard policies provide excellent levels of cover and we have awarded 5 stars to the £6,000 and £12,000 limit policies to reflect that fact.

The £6,000 limit policy is competitive in comparison to other policies that provide similar levels of cover. The £12,000 is more expensive, but this is to be expected based on the high level of vet fees cover it offers.

Unlike many Pet Insurers, PetGuard will cover working dogs (A dog that is being used for shooting or hunting; to work with livestock; or to perform tasks to assist a human companion, including therapy-dogs.)

Claims are handled in the UK by Covea Insurance and according to customer reviews appear to be dealt with quickly and effectively. While your claim is being dealt with, you can receive regular updates on its progress via email or text message.
