Who are Leisure Guard Travel Insurance

Leisure Guard is a trading style of Business Brokers Limited. Business Brokers Limited are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Leisure Guard offer a wide range of Insurances including travel insurance. Leisure Guard's travel policies are arranged and administered by ROCK Insurance Group on behalf of Leisure Guard.

Key Points you need to know about Leisure Guard's policy wording

1. What is the age/classification of a child on the policy?

Your dependents who are under the age of 18 and in full time education.

2. What are the policy age limits?

At time of commencement of the period of insurance :-

Single Trip Policies: 79 years of age maximum.

Annual Multi-Trip policies: 79 years of age maximum..

Policies including winter sports: 69 years of age maximum.

3. What are the policy Trip Duration limits?

Single trip policies can be taken out for up to eighteen months (provided you are under the age of 65). For those travellers between the ages of 65 and 75, the maximum trip duration is reduced to 92 days and those of you aged between 76 and 79 a single trip is restricted to 31 days (24 days if travelling worldwide).

Annual multi-trip policies allow an unlimited number of trips, with each trip restricted to a maximum of 31 days (can be increased to 45, 62, or 92 days if you are under the age of 65, 45 or 62 days if you are aged between 65 and 75). The maximum trip for anyone aged between 76 and 79 and travelling worldwide is reduced to 24 days.

4. What are the options for Winter Sports cover?

Winter Sports Cover can be included on your Annual Trip Policy for a maximum of 17, 24 or 31 days upon payment of the appropriate additional premium.  This can be added to your Single Trip Policy for the entire duration of your trip.

You are covered for up to 17 winter sport activities. Cover for off-piste skiing or snowboarding is not mentioned. If you intend to carry out this activity, we recommend contacting the Insurer for clarification.

5. What is classed as a family and how many people can be quoted for?

A policy can be taken out by a single person, couples who reside together, single parent families and families, together with a maximum of four children.

For annual multi-trip policies, each insured person can travel independently; children travelling independently must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Groups of multiple individuals at least one of whom must be aged 18 can also be catered for up to a maximum of twelve in number. (There is not premium discount for multiple individuals insuring under the same policy)

6. What are the policy rules on reciprocal health agreements (EHIC, Medicare)?

EHIC mandatory, if travelling to the EU. You must enrol in Medicare if travelling to Australia.

7. What is covered under Sports and Activities on the policy?

Sports and Activities are split into Tables A to E.  There are approximately 70 activities included as standard in Table A.  Tables B to E can be added with the payment of an additional premium, cover for Personal Liability and Personal Accident are excluded.

It is important that you check the list of activities before purchasing your travel insurance to ensure you are covered.  If you are unsure, it’s a good tip to gain approval in writing from your insurance provider.

8. What are the policy Alcohol Exclusion terms?

Policy states you are not covered for “Any claim arising directly or indirectly from Your drug addiction or solvent abuse, excessive alcohol intake, or You being under the influence of drug(s).”

9. Does the policy cover Scheduled Airline Failure or Financial Failure?

Covered under Premier and Premier Plus Policies only.

10. Does the policy cover Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and can I get a quote online?

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions can be considered, however you will need to call the Insurance Provider in order to go through their screening process. Any pre-existing medical condition that has not been declared and accepted in writing by the insurer will not be covered.

11. What are the policy rules on travelling when pregnant?

Policy States “Pregnancy and Childbirth: Cover under this policy is provided for unforeseen events. In particular, cover is provided under Section 1 for unforeseen bodily injury or illness. Pregnancy and Childbirth are not considered to be either an illness or injury. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that cover is ONLY given under Sections 1, 3, 4 and 5 of this policy for claims arising from Complications of Pregnancy and Childbirth. Please make sure You read the definition of complications of Pregnancy and Childbirth given under the Meaning of Words section.

12. Will I be covered if I want to do Manual Work or Bar Work or other work while I am on holiday?

Manual Work is excluded under the policy except where such work is solely in a voluntary capacity, for a charity registered under the Charity Commission in England and Wales, the Scottish Charity regulator or the Department for Social Development in Northern Ireland and where there is no financial gain. In such circumstances, there will be no cover for hands-on involvement with the installation, assembly, maintenance, repair or use of heavy electrical, mechanical or hydraulic plant or machinery, or for working more than 3 metres above the ground, and cover for Personal Accident and Personal Liability is excluded.

In the event of an injury occurring as a result of voluntary labour, the Policy Excess under the section Medical Emergency & Repatriation will be increased to £250 and application of Excess Waiver will not delete this increased excess. Cover excludes interaction with wild animals of any kind.

We would recommend that anyone planning to work obtains written permission from their Insurance Provider that it is covered under their policy.

13. What are the requirements, if I need to claim for lost, damaged or stolen baggage?

Receipts are required in the event of a claim. Therefore, we strongly recommend that it would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday; and additionally, any valuation for items that are of value, but you don’t have an original receipt. If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.

14. What does the policy cover in the event of war, terrorism or cyber attack?

You are not covered as standard in respect of any act any act of terror, policy states “ For the purpose of this exclusion terrorist activity means an act, or acts, of any person, or group(s) of persons, committed for political, religious, ideological or similar purposes with the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public, in fear. Terrorist activity can include, but not be limited to, the use of force or violence and/or the threat thereof. Furthermore, the perpetrators of terrorist activity can either be acting alone, or on behalf of, or in connection with any organisation(s) or government(s).

15. Does the policy cover natural disaster or catastrophe before and during my holiday?

Covered under Premier and Premier Plus Policies.

16. Do I have to be a UK resident to be covered under this policy?

This policy is only available to permanent UK Residents, registered with a Medical Practitioner.
