Important Information on Holidaysafe's Policy Wording

What is age/classification of Child?

Persons who are dependents who are under the age of 18, living at home with you and in full time education. In this scenario a dependent is considered as children, grandchildren, step-children, adopted children or foster children.

Age Limits?

At time of purchase:-

No age limit for Single Trip

79 or under for Annual Multi Trip

75 or under for Backpacker

75 or under for Long Stay.

Single Trip, Trip Duration up to 90 days aged up to 65 years, reducing to 31 days aged 66 or over. Annual Trip, Trip Duration is 31 days as standard, this can be increased to 45 or 60 days with the payment of an additional premium.  Long Stay and Backpacker Trip Duration is from 1 to 24 months, with two return trips home of up to 21 days covered as standard.

Winter Sports can be added to any policy by selecting the appropriate Activity Pack and paying the additional premium. Unlike other multi trip policies that include winter sports, the Holidaysafe Multi Trip policy has no limit on the total number of days you may ski during the 12 month policy period, as long as any one trip does not exceed 31 days.

Group no limits, quotes vary based on per person.

Reciprocal Health Agreements

EHIC Mandatory if travelling to the EU.  If you are travelling to Australia you must register with Medicare on arrival.

Sporting Activities, what’s included?

Check the policy schedule, activities listed in Activity Pack 1 are included as standard. Activity Packs 2 ? 8 are chargeable and you should check to ensure the activities you plan are included.

Alcohol Exclusion, Terms?

Policy states “You, your travelling companion, close relative or business associate being under the influence of:-  drugs (except those prescribed by your registered doctor but not when prescribed for treatment of drug addiction); alcohol (a blood alcohol level that exceeds 0.19% approximately four pints or four 175ml glasses of wine); solvents, or;  anything relating to you or your close relatives or business associate prior abuse of alcohol or solvents.

Scheduled Airline Failure/End Supplier Failure cover?

Covered under Premier, Premier Plus, Backpacker and Backpacker Plus Policies as follows:-

End Supplier Failure (prior to your departure from the UK) Cover for sums paid in advance in the event of Insolvency of the end supplier associated with your trip which was incurred before your departure date if you have to cancel your trip or if you have already completed the outward journey;

End Supplier Failure (after your departure from the UK) Cover for the extra cost of a one way fare of a standard no greater than the class of journey on the outward journey to allow you to complete the return journey of your trip (to your original departure country within the European Union/EEA country of residence ) as a result of the insolvency or financial failure of the mode of transport on which you are booked to travel causing the transport  on which your trip depends that were subject to your advanced booking being discontinued and you not being offered from any other source any reasonable alternative transport or refund of charges you have already paid.

Medical Conditions, Exclusions, Vaccinations?

Quotes for people with medical conditions can be given online, you are asked to go through a set of questions in relation to your condition and quotes are provided at the end of this.

Any pre-existing medical condition that has not been declared and accepted in writing by the insurer will not be covered.

You must ensure that you have all the appropriate vaccinations that are required for the country/countries that you intend to visit.

Travelling while Pregnant?

Policy states “Our policies include emergency medical expenses cover for pregnancy and childbirth from week 0 to week 28 inclusive whilst you are away. From the start of week 29 to week 40 of the pregnancy, there is no cover for claims relating to normal pregnancy and normal childbirth or cancellation, however, medical expenses and cancellation cover will be provided if any of the following complications arise: Toxaemia, Gestational hypertension, Ectopic pregnancy, Post-partum haemorrhage, Pre-eclampsia, Molar pregnancy or hydatidiform mole, Retained placenta membrane, Placental abruption, Hyperemesis gravidarum, Placenta praevia, Stillbirth, Miscarriage, Emergency Caesarean, A termination needed for medical reasons, Premature birth more than 12 weeks (or 16 weeks if you know you are having more than one baby) before the expected delivery date.”

Working while away?

Listed under activities - Manual Labour is excluded except for those listed in Activity Pack 1 ? e.g Bar Work, Animal Sanctuary (non big game). If your plan is for specific work, it is always best to contact the insurance provider and obtain written acceptance that your planned type of work is allowed under the policy.

Possessions, Proof of Ownership?

Proof of value and ownership of property and money is required for any item with a value exceeding £50. This should be in the form of an original receipt. Lack of this may mean you are still eligible to claim but will be subject to a maximum of £50 and will be considered part of “unreceipted items” in respect of the claim and included in the maximum offered by that policy.

It would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday. If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.

Cyber Attack, Terrorism

Claims relating to cyber events are excluded. Terrorism is also excluded in respect of all sections other than emergency medical expenses, war, terrorism, biological or chemical warfare, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war has been declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power.

Natural Disaster/Catastrophe

Residency/Doctor/NI?

You and all other insured persons must be a resident of the United Kingdom, Channel Islands or British Forces Posted Overseas.
