When your pet turns 6, this increases to 20%.

15. Website Navigation and online shopping experience

The website is excellent and provides plenty of useful information in an easy to read format, including frequently asked questions, cover comparison, sums insured, whats not covered, policy wording.

The quotation is easy to use and plenty of information is again provided, with the exception of the policy wording and the Insurance Product Information Document, which is not available prior to policy purchase (there are links to these in the footer, but clicking on them takes you out of the quotation).

Healthy Pets do not offer a live chat facility, but you can phone their call centre with any questions.

16. Is the policy wording easy to understand?

The policy wording is squashed into only 4 pages and covers all six policies, as well as a summary of cover.

This makes the job of interpreting the differences between the policies much more difficult.

In testing the policy wording scored 41.6 out of 100 classing it as difficult to read. It is estimated that a potential customer would need the reading age of a 17 year old to be able to understand the terminology.

17. Is the Insurer listed on comparison sites?

Healthy Pets feature on all four comparison sites. The cover is the same as if you went direct, however whilst the majority of the premiums quoted matched the website, there were a few that were more expensive. If you are using a comparison website, we recommend comparing the figures direct rather than letting the comparison website take you to the site.

18. Does the policy include a helpline?

Healthy pets have a claims helpline.

19. What do customer reviews say?

Trustpilot have received 836 reviews about Healthy Pets and have a rating of 2.2 out of 5. Upon investigation it appears the majority of negative reviews relate to what customers feel is poor administration and slow claims service. A few related to customers not reading their policy documents carefully enough.

In comparison Feefo have received 153 reviews with a rating of 4.7 out of 5. The majority of reviews were about the excellent website and the ease at which a policy could be taken out.

20. Are there any administration charges?

The company does not charge administration fees.

21. Are there any special discounts or promotions?

Currently there are no special discounts or promotions.

22. Overall Summary

Overall Healthy Pets offer very competitive premiums for the levels of cover they provide.

Remember that once your pet turns 5 you will be expected to contribute a percentage towards the settlement of any claim, this is younger than some other insurers.

To be valid any claim must be notified to Healthy Pets within 60 days and every claim will be reviewed by a vet nurse and
compared to charges for the same or similar treatment to ensure that the treatment and fees being charged are
reasonable, necessary, essential and not excessive.

The four page policy covers all Healthy Pet policies, so make sure you read it carefully.
