Time Limited - A maximum benefit for each condition covered for up to 12 months.
Maximum Benefit - A maximum benefit per condition with no time limit.
Lifetime Cover - A maximum benefit per policy year, which is renewable.
This is a list of the important exclusions. Everypaw do not cover;
Complementary treatments are covered under all Everypaw policy. The amount depends on the type of policy and the level of cover you select.
Complementary Treatment means hydrotherapy, osteopathy, massage and healing, laser treatment, electrical muscle stimulation, acupuncture, chiropractic or physiotherapy treatment, recommended by your vet.
Everypaw covers up to 25% of the cost of a clinical diet for a maximum period of six months per condition, as long as it has been recommended by your vet. This does not apply to treatments for obesity or weight loss.
Dentistry is also covered, as long as there is a history of annual checkups and any advice carried out within six months, the treatment is to relieve suffering due to illness or accidental injury.
All policies cover MRT/CT Scans and Cruciate Ligaments claims up to the vet fees limit.
All policies cover the cost of having your pet put to sleep, provided it was recommended and agreed by your vet. It does not cover any costs in relation to burial or cremation.
Everypaw allow you to insure unlimited pets under the same policy and apply a multi-pet discount, that equates to one free months cover per additional insured pet.
Everypaw will not cover any condition or symptom you were aware of, or that was noted or investigated by your vet, before the inception of the policy.
Everypaw do not cover the cost of any treatment related to pregnancy, giving birth, or breeding and any complications connected to this area.
Vets fees can be extended to cover your pet whilst abroad for a maximum of 90 days. Cover does not extend to include, additional quarantine costs, emergency repatriation or loss of your pet passport.
There is no cover under the Everypaw policy for accidents/injuries that occur within the first 72 hours of your policy.
There is no cover under the Everypaw policy for illnesses that occur within the first 14 days of your policy.
The excess varies between £80 and £125 depending on the policy you choose, but in general, the higher the levels of cover chosen, the higher the excess.
When your pet reaches the age of 7, you will be required to make a contribution of 25% of the cost of any claim, in addition to the fixed excess amount.
For example if your claim was for £1,000 and your excess £110, your total contribution would be £110 plus £222.50 or £332.50.
The website is nicely laid out. Access to all relevant information is provided, levels of benefits, policy wording, including an excellent section on what isn't covered. There is no live chat, although you can email questions and there is a free phone number for telephone quotes.
The frequently asked questions section could be a bit more comprehensive, but the quotation system itself was impressive and makes good use of graphics to help with questions. At the time of our mystery shopping, Everypaw were only offering Lifetime quotes.
The 24 page policy wording covers all three types of policy, although there is no summary of cover to allow you to compare benefits. The policy includes useful emergency and contact numbers, as well as an index to aid navigation. Exclusions are boxed in grey, so that it's easier to differentiate between what is and what isn't covered.
The policy wording scored 68.4 out of 100, which means that it is classed as standard reading and that a person with a reading age of between 12 and 14 should be able to understand the contents.
Everypaw is listed on the four main price comparison websites.
However during our research we found that in some cases the premiums were higher, not all the cover options were displayed and in the majority of cases, cover was lower than could be obtained by going direct to Everypaw's website.
Everypaw customers can benefit from Petcall Live Chat, 24/7 Access to UK Based Vet Nurses.
Customer reviews about Everypaw are mixed.
Trustpilot has 61 reviews with a rating of 2.9 out of 5
Feefo has 459 reviews with a rating of 4.2 out of 5
Customers have highlighted some issues 1. Claims being denied due to Everypaw's interpretation of existing medical conditions, even where a vet confirms that they are unrelated 2. Upon receiving a pets medical history, underwriters imposing conditions where minor visits to the vet have already taken place.
If you are looking to insure a pet that has had some treatments in the past, this is worth bearing in mind.
We could not find any information relating to any administration charges.
A Free Dog Activity Tracker with every policy. Apply the code PITPAT during the checkout process.
If you work from home and have clients visiting your property, or take your dog to work, then these policies will not be suitable for you.
There are certain dog breeds that have a maximum age restriction of 5 and others that you are unable to obtain higher levels of cover on. If you pet falls into one of these categories, it may be the case that other Insurers would be more suitable.
We awarded their lifetime £6,000, £8,000 & £10,000 policies 4 star ratings for the levels of cover. Whilst premiums have increased over the last few years, they are still relatively cheap and competitive for younger pets, but get less competitive the older your pet.
Once your pet reaches 7 the mandatory 25% additional payment on claims is higher than many other Insurers.
Also be aware of the inner condition limits, if you are purchasing a policy from a price comparison website.
