Who are Co-operative and who underwrites their policies?

The Co-operative owned by its members, the UK's fifth biggest food retailer and one of the world's largest consumer co-operatives. In addition to food, they offer funeralcare, legal services and Insurance,

The Co-op relaunched their travel insurance last year and have a brand new range of products, single trip, annual multi-trip and backpacker. All underwritten by MAPFRE Assistance. Choose from Bronze, Silver, the four star rated Gold policy and the Five Star rated Platinum policy (Annual policies only).

They are the first Insurer to introduce a cashless settlement of medical expense claims. In the past for small medical claims, the customer pays the bill and claims a refund from the Insurer upon return to the UK. The Co-op where possible will now settle all medical expense claims direct (over and above any excess payable).
