Rock Insurance do have a long record of experience in the travel insurance market place, founded in 2001, with a goal to provide the travel sector with better policies. They have insured in excess of 1 million customers since their launch ten years ago. The Big Blue cover policies are underwritten by Europ Assistance SA, a French Corporation, created in 1963 with more than 300 million customers worldwide and regulated by the French Insurance code. Europe Assistance (Irish Branch) are regulated by the ACPR (Autorite de Controle Prudentiel et de resolution).

Trip Duration for Single Trip is up to 365 days if you are aged up to 74 years, reducing to 31 days if you are 75 or over. Annual Trip, Trip Duration is a maximum of 32 days per trip.
Winter Sports can be added to your premium for the entire duration of your Single Trip, or a Maximum of 14 days on your Economy Cover Annual Trip, increasing to 18 days on your Standard or Premier Cover Annual Trip.
Group - up to 12 individuals. Although there are no group discounts for insuring multiple individuals.
A family policy is for the main insured person, his/her spouse, Civil Partner or Common Law Partner, and up to four of their dependent children under 18 years of age (in full-time education and residingwith them). For annual multi-trip policies, each insured adult can travel independently. All members of the family must live at the same address.

Sports and Activities are split into 4 Categories (A to D) There are approximately 30 activities included as standard, conditions of cover and any exclusions are listed as Conditions beside the activity. You can add Categories B-D with the payment of an additional premium and, for example, if you purchase Category D, you are covered for all preceding Categories.
It is important that you check the list of activities before purchasing your travel insurance to ensure you are covered. If you are unsure, it’s a good tip to gain approval in writing from your insurance provider.
Policy states the Insurer shall not be responsible claims where “your suicide, deliberately injuring Yourself, being under the influence of alcohol or drugs (unless prescribed by a doctor), alcoholism or other alcohol related illnesses, drug addiction, solvent abuse, self-exposure to needless danger (unless You are trying to save someone’s life). “
Not Covered under this any Policy
Many Pre-existing conditions are covered free of charge under this policy, if you check their policy wording document, you will find these on page 2. Other pre-existing medical conditions require completing a Medical Screening, to do this you need to call them on 0345 658 0329.
Defined on page 2 of the Policy Wording Document, detailing Covered Medical Conditions, as “Pregnancy (provided no complications and not travelling less than 8 weeks or (16 weeks in the case of a known multiple pregnancy) prior to the expected delivery date).
Also detailed on page 5, as “Cover under this policy is provided for unforeseen events. In particular, cover is provided under Section 1 for unforeseen bodily injury or illness. Pregnancy and childbirth are not considered to be either an illness or injury. Cover is ONLY provided under Sections 1 3, 4 and 5 of this policy for claims arising from complications of pregnancy and childbirth.”
Manual Work of any kind is specifically excluded under the policy, though under exclusions Bar Work and Nursing are not considered Manual Work. The policy defines Manual Work as “Physical labour involving the use of tools or machinery or exposure to risk that could give rise to Your bodily injury or illness (nursing and bar-work are not considered to be manual work).”
We would recommend that anyone planning to work obtains written permission from their Insurance Provider that it is covered under their policy.
Receipts are required in the event of a claim. Therefore, we strongly recommend that it would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday; and additionally, any valuation for items that are of value, but you don’t have an original receipt. If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.
You are not covered as standard in respect of any act of terrorism, however this can be added with the payment of an additional premium. This includes Cyber Terrorism.
