What is age/classification of Child?
Your dependents who are under the age of 18 and in full time educationand residing at home.
At time of purchase:-
Single Trip Standard Policy, no age limit. Essentials Policy available up to age 55.
Annual Trip Standard Policy, up to age 79 (reduces to age 64 for oldest traveller if going as a family). Essentials Policy available up to age 55.
Backpacker Trip Aged 18 to 45 years.
Single Trip, Trip Duration is 185 days or 31 days on Essential Cover. Annual Multi Trip, Trip Duration is 45 days per trip or 17 days per trip on Essential Cover. Backpacker Trip Duration is up to 366 days, with one Return home of up to 14 days per policy period (cover is suspended during home visits).
Winter Sports can be added up to age 64 for the entire duration of your Single Trip, or If you are an Annual Multi-trip policy holder, you are entitled to 17 days winter sports cover if you have paid the appropriate additional premiums.
No of persons covered, family/ group?
Group not applicable.
Family means you and your husband/wife or civil partner, partner (who have co-habited for at least 6 months) and up to six unmarried, dependent children of either of you (including fostered or adopted) under the age of 18 years who must be named on this insurance. On an annual multi-trip policy, adults may travel independently of each other but children must always be accompanied by an adult named on this insurance.
Reciprocal Health Agreements
EHIC strongly advised but not mandatory, if travelling to the EU. You must enrol in Medicare if travelling to Australia.
Sporting Activities, what’s included?
Sports and Activities are split into Grades 1 to 2. There are approximately 60 activities included as standard Grade 1. Grade 2 covers higher risk sports and activities and can be included with payment of an additional premium. Grade 2 Activities are subject to an increased medical excess of £250, Personal Accident cover is reduced by 50% and Personal Liability is excluded.
It is important that you check the list of activities before purchasing your travel insurance to ensure you are covered. If you are unsure, it’s a good tip to gain approval in writing from your insurance provider.
Alcohol Exclusion, Terms?
Policy states in relation to mugging cover section “your suicide, deliberately injuring yourself, being under the influence of drugs (unless prescribed by a doctor), alcohol, alcoholism or other alcohol related illnesses, drug addiction, solvent abuse, self-exposure to needless danger (unless you are trying to save someone’s life);”
Scheduled Airline Failure/End Supplier Failure cover?
Covered under Standard Policy only.
Medical Conditions, Exclusions, Vaccinations?
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions need to be declared via the AA online screening process. Any pre-existing medical condition that has not been declared and accepted in writing by the insurer will not be covered.
Travelling while Pregnant?
Policy States you are not covered for normal pregnancy, without any accompanying bodily injury, illness, disease or complication. Policy sections is designed to provide cover for unforeseen events, accidents, illnesses and diseases and normal childbirth would not constitute an unforeseen event.
Working while away?
Manual Work of any kind is specifically excluded under the policy, though under activities you are covered for Manual work (bar and restaurant, waitress, waiter, chalet maid, au pair, nanny and occasional light manual work including retail work and fruit picking but excluding the use of power tools and machinery). Non manual work (including professional administrative or clerical duties only).
We would recommend that anyone planning to work obtains written permission from their Insurance Provider that it is covered under their policy.
Possessions, Proof of Ownership?
Receipts are required in the event of a claim. Therefore, we strongly recommend that it would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday; and additionally, any valuation for items that are of value, but you don’t have an original receipt. If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.
Cyber Attack, Terrorism
You are not covered as standard in respect of any act any act of terror (this exclusion does not apply to Emergency Medical and Repatriation Expenses or Personal Accident claims);
Covered under Standard Policy only.
This policy is only available to permanent UK Residents, registered with a Medical Practitioner.
