Who are Travel Time Travel Insurance

TravelTime Travel Insurance is a trading style of Explorer Insurance Services Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Travel Time offer Single Trip, Annual Multi Trip, Wintersports and Backpacker Insurance (via Explorer Website).

A Single Trip Policy for a 39 year old travelling to Europe for a week would cost £7.66, you can add to this Winter Sports which would increase the premium by £7.66, Golf Cover which would add £0.77.  Business Cover is +£2.68 or CruisePlus at +£1.53.

Key Points you need to know about Travel Time Insurance's policy wording

1. What is the age/classification of a child on the policy?

Children are classed as persons aged under 18 years, or aged under 22 if they are in ful time education.

2. What are the policy age limits?

At the time of purchase:-

Single Trip age liimit is up to 75 years.

Annual Multi Trip age limit is 65 years.

3. What are the policy Trip Duration limits?

Single Trip, Trip Duration, is up to 365 days for persons up to age 60, this reduces to 120 days if you are between 61 to 69 years and 31 days if you are aged 70 to 75 years.

Annual Trip, Trip Duration is for any number of trips in a year up to 45 days per trip.

4. What are the options for Winter Sports cover?

Winter Sports cover gives up to 17 days cover on your Annual Multi Trip policy, or for the entire duration of your Single Trip Policy, when the appropriate additional premium has been paid.

The winter sport section covers 26 different acitivities as standard, including off piste skiing and snowboarding, with a guide.

Winter Sports cover, gives the following:-

  • Ski Equipment          £500
  • Hired Ski Equipment £250
  • Ski Equipment Hire  £250 (£25 per day)
  • Ski Pack                 £500 (£50 per day)
  • Lost Lift Pass          £150
  • Piste Closure          £300
  • Avalanche or          £300
  • Landslide Cover

 

5. What is classed as a family and how many people can be quoted for?

A family is classed as up to two adults and their children, step children or foster children aged under 18 (or aged under 22 if in full time education), accompanying the parents or legal guardian insured on the same policy travelling on any trip to the same destination.  Children are only insured when travelling with one or both or the insured adults.

Up to 10 travellers can be quoted for on the same policy.

6. What are the policy rules on reciprocal health agreements (EHIC, Medicare)?

EHIC is strongly advised but not mandatory if travelling within the EU.  If you are travelling to Australia and you need treatment you must enrol with a local Medicare Office.

7. What is covered under Sports and Activities on the policy?

There are over 100 activities included as standard on the policy, some are * starred as excluding Personal Liability.   Any restrictions or requirements for carrying out activities are listed beside the activity, for example if safety gear or working within organizers guidelines.

8. What are the policy Alcohol Exclusion terms?

The policy states you are not covered "from you being under the influence or connection with the use of alcohol or drugs, unless as prescribed by a doctor."

9. Does the policy cover Scheduled Airline Failure or Financial Failure?

You are covered for up to £500 for Scheduled Airline Failure.  This covers flights that have been booked in the UK, through a bonded travel agent or direct with a Scheduled Airline.

This will cover you for irrecoverable sums, in the event that the airline becomes insolvent, provided that you were not aware of a threat of insolvency.

Further terms and conditions do apply so if this is an important factor, you should check the exact policy wording, as shown on page 39 of your policy.

 

10. Does the policy cover Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and can I get a quote online?

Pre-Existing Medical conditions can be considered, you have to go through the online medical screening process.  It is important that you accurately declare all medical conditions.

Any Pre-Existing condition that has not been declared, accepted and confirmed in writing by the Insurance Provider will not be covered.

 

11. What are the policy rules on travelling when pregnant?

The policy states "Pregnancy is not a medical condition. You may decide to travel until you are quite late into your pregnancy. Airlines and ferry/shipping companies including cruise liners have their own restrictions due to health and safety requirements. You should check with them or any other transport companies you propose to use before you book. Please make sure that your medical practitioner and midwife are aware of your travel plans, that there are no known complications and that you are not travelling against any medical advice. We have the right to request a medical certificate to confirm this. We will only pay claims due to complications of pregnancy, or where you were unaware of the pregnancy at the time of purchasing the insurance and you are advised not to travel by a medical practitioner."

12. Will I be covered if I want to do Manual Work or Bar Work or other work while I am on holiday?

You are not covered for any Manual Work under this policy, however under Sports and Activities you can participate in administrative, clerical or professional occupations.  Also allowable is student work, if working as a counsellor or university exchanges for practical course work (non manual).  All allowable work excludes cover for Personal Liability.

13. What are the requirements, if I need to claim for lost, damaged or stolen baggage?

Whilst the baggage section of the policy does not specifically state that receipts will be required to substantiate your claim, generally most insurers will require proof of the value to substantiate your claim.

We would therefore recommend that you ensure to keep receipts of any item purchased for your holiday and ensuring that you have a recent valuation for any valuable items.

14. What does the policy cover in the event of war, terrorism or cyber attack?

Policy states that they shall not be responsible for claims that are directly or indirectly caused by, occasioned by, resulting from or in connection with war, terrorism (except for losses under medical expenses and personal accident, unless such losses are caused by nuclear, chemical or biological attack or planned attack)

15. Does the policy cover natural disaster or catastrophe before and during my holiday?

Not covered under this policy

16. Do I have to be a UK resident to be covered under this policy?

To be eligible for cover you should be permanently resident in the UK and registered with a Medical Practitioner.  Your main home must be in the UK and you must not have spent more than 6 months abroad in the year prior to purchasing or renewing this policy.
