Who are Direct2Insure Travel Insurance

Direct2Insure is a trading style of Brokersure Ltd who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Firm Reference Number 501719. Brokersure operate a number of brands in addition to Direct2Insure, such as HolidayInsurance.com, All Safe Insurance, Fit2 Travel Insurance, GoInsure.co.uk, Fit4Travel, Medical Travel Insurance and Travel Adder. As well as their own products Brokersure specialise in white labelling travel products for other companies.

Direct2Insure policies are underwritten by Astrenska Insurance ltd and all claims are handled by Intana, who are both part of the Collinson Group. At 42 pages long the policy wording is comprehensive, but you must still read it carefully to make sure your requirements are met, before making a decision to purchase travel insurance.

Key Points you need to know about Direct2Insure's policy wording

1. What is the age/classification of a child on the policy?

Under 18 at the date of issue of the policy.

2. What are the policy age limits?

At time of purchase:-

71 or under for Annual Multi Trip

71 or under for Single Trip

3. What are the policy Trip Duration limits?

Single Trip, Trip Duration is up to 184 days per trip.  Annual Trip, Trip duration is up to 17 days per Trip on Essential Cover and up to 31 days per trip on Comprehensive Cover.

4. What are the options for Winter Sports cover?

You can obtain cover for Winter Sports with the payment of an additional premium for a period of no more than 17 days in total in each period of insurance under annual multi trip policies and for the period of the trip under single trip policies.

Note wintersports is only available under the Comprehensive policy, which provides a list of 25 activities that are automatically covered.

The Comprehensive policy covers

  • Ski Equipment up to £500 (single article limit £250)
  • Ski Equipment hire £25 per day up to £250
  • Ski Pack £75 per day up to £300
  • Piste and Avalance closure £20 per day up to £200

 

5. What is classed as a family and how many people can be quoted for?

A policy can be taken out by a single person, a family or a group of up to ten individuals

Family - up to two adults and any number of their children, step children or foster children aged under 18 at date of issue of the policy.  The children are only insured when travelling with one or both of the insured adults, but under annual multi trip cover either adult and the children (accompanied by a responsible adult) are also insured to travel on their own.

There is no specific discount for insuring more than one person under the policy.

 

6. What are the policy rules on reciprocal health agreements (EHIC, Medicare)?

EHIC not Mandatory, but strongly advised. If travelling to Australia you must enrol with Medicare.

7. What is covered under Sports and Activities on the policy?

In excess of 70 standard sports/activities are included as standard, with additional Winter sports available at additional premium.  There are a number of * caveats against activities pertaining to no cover under personal liability for those activities. Therefore, if you were to injure a third party whilst participating, you would not be covered for any injury to that third party.

8. What are the policy Alcohol Exclusion terms?

Policy states “where it is reasonably foreseeable that such consumption could result in an impairment of your faculties and/or judgement resulting in a claim. We do not expect you to avoid alcohol on your trips or holidays, but we will not cover any claims arising because you have drunk so much alcohol that your judgement is seriously affected and you need to make a claim as a result.”

9. Does the policy cover Scheduled Airline Failure or Financial Failure?

10. Does the policy cover Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and can I get a quote online?

Quotes for people with medical conditions can be given online, you are asked to go through a set of questions in relation to your condition and quotes are provided at the end of this.

Any pre-existing medical condition that has not been declared and accepted in writing by the insurer will not be covered. You must ensure that you have all the appropriate vaccinations that are required for the country/countries that you intend to visit.

11. What are the policy rules on travelling when pregnant?

You are not covered for normal pregnancy, without any accompanying bodily injury, illness, disease or complication.

This section is designed to provide cover for unforeseen events, accidents, illnesses and diseases and normal childbirth would not constitute an unforeseen event.

12. Will I be covered if I want to do Manual Work or Bar Work or other work while I am on holiday?

Listed under activities - Manual Labour is excluded except for those listed in the Sports & Activity Section on the policy.  Those are administrative, clerical or professional occupations, archaeological digging.

There is no definition of Manual Labour and no mention is made of inclusion of Bar Work/Fruit Picking and so purchasers should assume there is no cover for this.  It is important for you to contact the insurance provider and obtain written acceptance that your planned type of work is allowed under the policy.

13. What are the requirements, if I need to claim for lost, damaged or stolen baggage?

You must provide (at your own expense) an original receipt or proof of ownership for items lost, stolen or damaged to help you to substantiate your claim. It would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday; and additionally any valuation for items that are of value, but you don’t have an original receipt.

If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.

14. What does the policy cover in the event of war, terrorism or cyber attack?

War risks, civil commotion and terrorism are only covered in respect of Section B Emergency medical and other expenses, Section C  Hospital benefit and Section D  Personal accident (unless caused by nuclear, chemical or biological attack).

15. Does the policy cover natural disaster or catastrophe before and during my holiday?

No Cover under Essential Policy, Covered under Comprehensive if your holiday is affected due to Natural Disaster/Catastrophe.  Cover is for reasonable additional accommodation and transport costs incurred up to the standard of your original booking, if you need to move to other accommodation.

16. Do I have to be a UK resident to be covered under this policy?

This policy is only available to you if you are permanently resident in the United Kingdom and registered with a medical practitioner in the United Kingdom. You must be in the United Kingdom at the time of purchasing this policy and before starting Your Trip.
