Aviva was founded in 1797, then known as Norwich Union. The company merged with General Accident and Commercial Union (known as CGU) in 2000. In June 2009 the company was completely rebranded and called Aviva, which is how it is known today. Aviva are one of the largest and best known UK Insurers. All policies are underwritten by Aviva, who also underwrite policies for First Direct and HSBC Travel Insurance.

At time of purchase:-
Age 80 or under for Single Trip Policies
Age 75 or under for Annual Multi Trip Policies.
Trip Duration Limits for Single Trip are 120 Days. Annual multi-trip insurance covers any number of trips of up to 31 days each, with an option to increase the maximum trip length to 45, 60 or 90 days.
If you choose the optional winter sports cover then you will have the opportunity to try out 11 different pursuits, that are automatically covered under the policy.

The option is available on both single trip and annual trip policies. Winter sports Cover is restricted to 31 days in total under the annual travel policy.
A policy may be taken out by up to nine individuals, for which excellent premium discounts are offered.
Family members are all treated as individuals and quoted as such, the only restriction being that travellers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult named on the policy schedule.
EHIC not Mandatory but strongly advised when visiting the EU. If travelling to Australia you must enrol with Medicare if you are requiring treatment. Any costs that can be recovered under these schemes will not be claimable.
There are approximately 80 activities covered as standard under this policy, some activities have conditions attached. Any exclusions for Personal Liability or Personal Accident are shown as ticked next to that activity.
It is important that you check the list of activities excluded, before purchasing your travel insurance to ensure you are covered. If you are unsure, it’s a good tip to gain approval in writing from your insurance provider.
Policy states you will not be covered “your misuse of alcohol or drugs or your consumption of alcohol or drugs (other than drugs taken under medical supervision and not for treating alcohol or drug addiction) to an extent which causes immediate or long-term physical or mental harm, or where your judgement is affected causing you to take actions you would not usually take; or any exacerbation of an accepted medical condition caused by your misuse of alcohol or drugs.”
Not Covered under this Policy
Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered by this Insurance Provider, unless you have fully declared these via the medical screening process. You can do all of this online and its very important that you declare every condition and this is accepted by the insurer.

The Policy does not detail conditions relating to pregnancy, we would therefore suggest if you are travelling while pregnant, that you contact the Insurance Provider for clarification.
Manual Labour is excluded under this policy, however you are allowed to do Charity or Conservation work using hand tools only, this is specified in the activities section and should not be the main reason for travel. If your plan is for specific work, it is always best to contact the insurance provider and obtain written acceptance that your planned type of work is allowed under the policy.
Receipts will be required to validate your claim. Therefore, it would be sensible to keep receipts of any new clothes/property purchased for your holiday. If in doubt as to whether you have cover for a specific item, please contact the Insurance Provider for clarification prior to taking out insurance.
Claims relating to cyber events are excluded. Also excluded any consequence whatsoever resulting from “war, invasion; act of a foreign enemy; hostilities or war like operation or operations (whether war has been declared or not); civil war, revolution, rebellion or insurrection; civil commotion which is of such severity or magnitude that it can amount to, or be likened to an uprising; military power (even if properly authorised by the duly elected government);usurped power; or any action taken to prevent, control or supress, or which in any way relates to the event.
Covered up to £750 for each insured person as standard, only if your accommodation was booked directly with the provider. However there is the option to include extended travel distruption cover which provides comprehensive cover against catastrophe and natural disasters.
You and all other insured persons must be a resident of the United Kingdom.
